To Kick-off event for Macon Pride Month we are commemorating Macon's LGBTQ+ histories with our 5th annual Pride Legacy Portrait Project. Macon Pride is celebrating the visionary leaders whose work in the arts, activism, and community building has strengthened and inspired Middle Georgia. Each year, Macon Pride selects three honorees to be featured in a special exhibit showcasing their portraits and personal narratives, offering a deeper look into their impact on our community. The 2026 inductees are:
- Ty Battle
- Zaria Newbill
- The founders of Macon Pride(of 2019) Jill Vanderhoek, Scott Mitchell, DeMarcus Beckham, Claire Cox, Andrea Freeman, and Moe Dyer
The unveiling of their portraits will be on September 3rd, 6:00 at the Tubman African American museum. This event and the museum will be free admission to the public for the nights programming. Light hors d'oeuvres and drinks will be served, provided by Sweet Eleanors
