Our stories are real.
We have always been here.
Pioneers and Trailblazers Exhibit
We all belong in the ongoing story of America—past, present, and future. By embracing our shared history and recognizing the diverse experiences of its many contributors, we honor the strength and richness of our nation. LGBTQ history is a vital part of this narrative, highlighting the extraordinary impact LGBTQ individuals have had on our society. Integrating their stories into the broader tapestry of U.S. and global history allows us to celebrate these achievements, deepen our understanding, and foster a more inclusive future.
Macon Pride proudly presents an annual portrait exhibit celebrating the contributions of Middle Georgia’s LGBTQ pioneers, activists, and trailblazers. This tribute highlights their impactful work in the arts, community development, social justice, and historic preservation.
Each year, we expand the series to recognize new individuals and groups—changemakers who have championed equality and advanced progress in their respective fields. In collaboration with Storyteller Macon, this year’s exhibit will feature oral histories, providing personal narratives that offer deeper insight into the region’s LGBTQ culture and lived experiences.
This meaningful event is more than a reflection of diversity; it serves as an enduring commitment to honoring and preserving the rich history of the LGBTQ community in Middle Georgia.
