New this year at Pride!

Welcome to The Still Point

Neurodiversity is the concept that neurological differences—such as autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and others—are natural variations of the human experience, not deficits to be corrected. Embracing neurodiversity means recognizing and valuing the unique ways individuals think, communicate, and engage with the world. In a city like Macon, where cultural vibrancy is celebrated through more than 20 annual festivals, our events must reflect the full spectrum of human diversity, including those whose sensory experiences may differ from the norm.

Accessible Pride festivals are a cornerstone of inclusive community building. Pride is not just a celebration—it’s a statement of visibility, belonging, and affirmation. For neurodivergent individuals, seniors, introverts, and families with young children, traditional festival environments can be overwhelming or even exclusionary. That’s why Macon Pride is proud to partner with Macon Mental Health Matters, River’s Edge Behavioral Health, Sangha Unity Network, Wesleyan College’s Health Services, and the Family Counseling Center of Central Georgia to offer education, resources, and free sensory kits. These efforts ensure that everyone, regardless of sensory needs or neurotype, can participate fully and comfortably in the celebration.

This year, Macon Pride introduces “The Still Point,” a network of sensory-friendly enclaves housed in Hello Boba Cafe and The Bohemian Den—welcoming spaces where attendees can find a moment of quiet, regroup, or simply take a breath. These sanctuaries are designed to reduce sensory overload and offer a cozy retreat from the festivities. By integrating visual signage, online accessibility guides, and supportive partners on-site, we’re setting a new standard for inclusive design in cultural events.

Pride in the Park and other Macon Pride activities will be more than just joyful. They’ll be affirming, accessible, and welcoming to all.
